Montuna

(From the mountain)

We provide accompaniment, coaching, education, and care services during any journey, stage, experience, or outcome of your pregnancy and expansive sexual and reproductive health life.

We believe that we are your companions and partners in preventive healthcare and education as you are the primary voice, with the right and power to make decisions about your own body, and we are here to listen, accompany, and guide you through that process and those decisions.

Our work…

…is a community practice centered on social and reproductive justice values and believes healing is a collective responsibility. We acknowledge and practice this to support people in their choices considering all the barriers around it.

Our organization has 5 branches: Salud Montuna (community classes), Partería Montuna (sexual and reproductive health people’s clinic), Sabiduría Montuna (preservation of ancestral practices), Cabaña Mujer Montuna (preventive health community care and education center), and soon our Casa Montuna (retreat healing resting space). These are rooted in respecting, uplifting, and preserving our shared innate cultural individual and community healing practices, coordinating our care and consultation/educational services within a “by the people, with, and for the people”  framework.

Our invitation...

… is to safeguard our threatened values of hope, joy, and companionship as imperative in our healing journeys, as they are essential to our work and are often threatened in our marginalized communities.

We aim to resist these barriers and meet the community's needs in response to all systems that harm our health individually and collectively. For this reason, we care for people and are strong on community education as a form of multiplying collective support.

Our dream…

…is a society where all individuals are taken care of on their sexual and reproductive health journeys, experiences, and outcomes with the equity, respect, and radical love and companionship they deserve.

To do so we understand decolonizing our approach to our communities is vital, to meeting our goal of bringing health prevention and wellness practices to where they always ancestrally belonged; into our people's hands!
